Our Mission

The mission of the project is to create a unique advanced research curriculum for students and early-career scientists, who will lead future neuropharmacological research, and form a cluster of institutions of excellence in the fields of Neuropsychopharmacology.

The project will provide students, and PhD programme participants with lectures and training in emerging topics and research methodologies.
We focus on brain research – study of neuronal and molecular mechanisms involved in the actions of cannabidiol.

Project duration: 1st November 2022 – 31st October 2025

Partners

4 European partners – leading European brain research centres in development of novel treatments of psychiatric disorders:

Maj Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences
Krakow, Poland

Miguel Hernández University
Alicante, Spain

Central Institute of Mental Health Mannheim, Germany

Neurocentre Magendie
Bordeaux, France

🌟 Exciting Highlights from the Twinning_TrePsy Winter School! 🔹️On 26 and 29 February 2024, we delved into the fusion of artificial intelligence with neuroscience and neuropsychopharmacology during our workshops and lecture session at the Twinning TrePsy Winter School 🧠💡 🔸️The event shone a spotlight on cutting-edge research in cannabinoid mechanisms and the practical application of neural network software, like DeepLabCut, for animal behavior video analysis 🐭📹🔹️Under the expert guidance of Konrad Danielewski from the Instytut Biologii Doświadczalnej im. M. Nenckiego PAN participants honed their skills in neural network training using video recordings from their own behavioral experiments. 🖥️🔬🔸️Our esteemed guest speakers, Akseli Graf from the Central Institute of Psychiatry in Mannheim and Francisco Navarrete from the Institute of Neuroscience in Alicante, shared invaluable insights on AI's role in research, emerging challenges, new opportunities, and the latest findings on endocannabinoids and impulsive behaviors🌐🔍🔹️The workshops welcomed 12 scientists, while the lecture session had 30 attendees on-site and 20 joining online📊🌍🔸️ We're thrilled to see growing interest each year and are already counting down to the next Winter School! 🎓🗓️This meeting is part of the project "Towards new treatments of psychiatric disorders – a system-oriented approach", funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program. 📢Exciting Invitation Alert❗Join us for an enlightening session at the upcoming Twinning_TrePsy lectures.Save the date🎯🔸29th February 2024🔸Time: 10:00 – 11:00 AM🔸Topic: Role of the Endocannabinoid System in the Regulation of Impulsive Behavior🔸Speaker: Francisco Navarrete RuedaInstitute of Neurosciences, University Miguel Hernández, Alicante, Valencia, Spain 🇪🇸👉Meet Francisco Navarrete Rueda, a distinguished associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Paediatrics and Organic Chemistry at Miguel Hernandez University (UMH). 🔹He develops his scientific activity in the Laboratory of Translational Neuropsychopharmacology of Psychiatric and Neurological Disorders at the Institute of Neurobiology (UMH-CSIC). 🔹He has participated in 23 Spanish research grants and 1 European project (TrePsy, Twinning, Horizon Europe) and recently received funding from the National Drug Plan (Ministry of Health, Spain) to develop a grant as principal investigator (2024-2026). 🔹He has authored a total of 64 articles in indexed journals, mostly in the first quartile (24 h-index). 🔹His research lines focus on the study of changes in the components of the endocannabinoid system to identify potential biomarkers and evaluate its therapeutic use to improve the treatment of several brain disorders, in particular drug dependence. This lecture is a part of the Twinning TrePsy Workshops, organized alongside the XLI Winter School at the Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences. These events are crucial components of the "Towards new treatments of psychiatric disorders - a system-oriented approach" project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme 🇪🇺.We eagerly await your participation in this fascinating journey through the world of neuroscience and the potential therapeutic impacts of the endocannabinoid system.Let's embark on this journey of discovery together! 🚀✨We can't wait to see you there!Instytut Farmakologii im.
